About Us

The Piney Grove Baptist Church was established on August 12, 1869 when the fourteen founding members met in a school house near the site of our present facilities. It was the day when the prayers and vision of a few believers became a reality which has positively impacted the lives of countless people throughout the church’s existence. The Sunday School Ministry was organized on July 1, 1872. Since the church’s beginning, the membership has sought to be instrumental in presenting the love of Jesus Christ to individuals in our growing congregation, surrounding community, and beyond.

Piney Grove Baptist is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the North Carolina Baptist State Convention, and the New River Baptist Association. We are always excited about greeting new folks who are willing to take the time to visit with us. You are invited to worship the Lord with us as often as is possible and to enjoy the full benefits of the ministries we offer. HOW TO JOIN OUR FELLOWSHIP:

1. Through Profession of Faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and participation in Believers’ Baptism.
    
2. By Transfer of Letter from another Southern Baptist Church where membership is currently held.
    
3. Statement of Faith: This action is taken by one who is not a member of a Southern Baptist Fellowship. He must have previously accepted Christ and been baptized by “immersion” in order to symbolize departure from an old life and entrance into the New Life supplied by Jesus. After consulting with the pastor, such person will be recommended to the Church Body for membership on the basis of Christian experience. NOTE: Completion of a 6-session long Introductory Class is required before “official”  membership status is granted.
