Joli Brooks has been the Minister of Music at Piney Grove Baptist Church since August 2008. A Christian since childhood, she rededicated her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized by Pastor Terry at Bear Creek Baptist Church in 2004.
Joli grew up in Sanford, NC, where she began playing the violin in the school orchestra. She holds degrees in music education and school administration from East Carolina University. In addition, she has completed her coursework for the Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education at Boston University. Joli is the Director of Orchestras at Jacksonville High School and continues to perform professionally with the Crystal Strings quartet.
Joli lives in Hubert with her husband and best friend Jim Gillentine. She is grateful to God for the amazing experiences, opportunities, and blessings He has provided to her through His gift of music. She leads the Music Ministry for His glory, by His call and only through His constant guidance and support. Her favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me."
